Day 58: Arts & Crafts (Second Shift)

Aug 21, 2011 13:39

It was impossible for Sora to not be in a good mood when Riku had come back (with his memories intact!). He could only imagine how Kairi was going to react when he found her, and that thought alone put a smile on his face as well. He realized that there were still some things they needed to iron out about their plans, but Riku was already on the ( Read more... )

Well, that conversation with Claude sure turned interesting. While the topic had no doubt been a heavy one for him, for Rita it was more enlightening than anything. Her knowledge of both heraldry and of the institute's capabilities had been expanded, and that was rather satisfying to her ( ... )

Erika had planned to spend the rest of the day lounging in the Sun Room, but spotting a certain someone there had made her change her plans rather abruptly. So abruptly that she veered towards the closest room, which happened to the Arts and Crafts room. Still very much in pain and now paying for her sudden movement, Erika didn't take long to head towards the closest person she could recognize: A girl whom she remembered as Rita Mordio. She remembered Rita being actually intelligent and she seemed free at the moment, which was a good thing ( ... )

Rita glanced over when someone practically threw herself into the seat across from her, raising an eyebrow as she identified the girl.

"It's Furudo, right?" Though the girl's worn-out state made her seem less like the confident, eccentric girl she met several days ago, she was definitely the person Rita had discussed the institute's tricks with. If she remembered right, Furudo had a half-decent head on her shoulders, which meant she could make a good conversation partner. But before diving into anything like that, Rita was curious.

"... What happened to you?"

It looked like she was going to be asking that a lot today. Did whatever serpent that mangled Claude's hand take a bite out of everyone else, too? Maybe it was an especially bad night for monsters, or something.

Naturally, anyone would ask that sort of question. Erika sighed, not feeling like coming up with some excuse or euphemism to cover up her injuries. There was no need to lie, but she certainly didn't have to explain everything, did she? Besides, it wasn't like her injuries were unusual in of itself. The source of them was the interesting part ( ... )

Rita had only asked out of idle curiosity and the fact that Furudo's injuries were so obvious it was difficult not to address them, but her interest spiked as soon as the basement was mentioned. So Furudo was taking the same path Rita's group was? Turning her body to face the other girl, Rita eagerly awaited the account of what lied ahead for her ( ... )

Of course, Rita was smart, so she had the same thought process that Erika did. Too bad; she probably would have fared better if she went into the Medical Wing then the basement. Still, it was frustrating that she didn't find anyone who went there yet. How else was she supposed to figure out what sort of effects they went under? That was what was running through Erika's mind until she remembered the unpleasant fact that she shouldn't be in a hurry to figure this place any longer. That knowledge seem to sober Erika, who just nodded pleasantly to the other girl's words. Suddenly, her drive to discuss the Institute with Rita seemed to have faded away as quickly as it came ( ... )

"Hallucinating?" Rita echoed, cupping her chin with her hand. "I heard about something like that too, on the bulletin. A lot of people said they transformed into monsters, but... it could just as easily be that they were hallucinating, too."

It wasn't inconceivable that some mysterious alien drug could cause such a dramatic physical change in people, but for them all to be back to normal the next day? That part was a little harder to believe. If what they claimed was truly what happened, then they had every reason to suspect long-term effects.

"In either case, it's not something I'd like to experience," she added by way of summary, shrugging.

"Really?" Of course, the bulletin. Erika had neglected to look at it, which was strange considering her daily ritual of reading the updates after breakfast. Still, it was interesting to hear about how people were talking about other strange effects, though all could be explained by hallucinations and altered senses due to the drugs they took. It was so easy to explain that it didn't even require any thought and discussion, it was simply the actual affects of Unknown Drug X. And it could have been possible that the man she saw earlier this morning was still suffering from the effects ( ... )

Rita stared back with an emotionless, though somewhat questioning look as Furudo referenced her experiences once more. She had to be talking about whatever happened in the basement... the thing that she apparently couldn't talk about. There was probably no use in asking questions that couldn't be answered, but Rita found herself growing more and more curious ( ... )
