Day 58: Lunch

Aug 25, 2011 11:03

Although it had been good to see his mom again, Claude entered the cafeteria with a dark expression on his face. He was glad she felt comfortable enough with him to share her experiences from last night, but that didn't make him any less angry at the military for using her to do their dirty work. Why couldn't those bastards clean up their own ( Read more... )

Wow. Anise was more worn out than she thought. After breakfast, she stopped by the Sun Room, lay down to take a brief rest... and wound up sleeping through the whole shift. Maybe it wasn't so weird, since she did have a pretty rough night. Still, it felt like a big waste to lose time like that.

When she woke up to the sound of patients being shuffled over to the Cafeteria, Anise quickly realized she was starving. Since she'd felt a little sick that morning, she didn't eat much at breakfast. Now that she was well-rested, she could probably handle a big meal. Those hamburgers were smelling pretty tasty, too.

With her appetite back in full swing, Anise fetched herself two burgers, loaded with lots of toppings and accompanied by a glass of milk. With her tray in hand, she found a place to sit and eat. She was still a little groggy, and her movements were slower and less graceful than usual, but she picked up one hamburger and started eating right away, hoping to get all of her energy back before nightfall.

Wow. So it'd be like if there was an Auldrant where the Malkuth Empire was never established, or if the Kingdom of Ispania never fell... It was hard to imagine.

"Go ahead! It's better if lots of people have all the information they get, so that maybe someone can figure out what happened," Anise replied, though she had to think a second about her answer to his next question. "Hmm... I think it'd be okay to mention me if it comes up!" It probably wasn't something her enemies could use against her.

"Anyway, if you find anything else out about it, let me know, okay?" she added, her smile returning. Anise wasn't sure she'd be able to go back to do any more investigating (and she didn't really want to, besides), but she was still really curious about what happened in that village.

Anise was glad to hear Lelouch was willing to let her know when more information turned up, and so she was happy to answer his follow-up questions. "Right... I think I've been there three times now. I don't think anything changed besides the weather, but I mostly looked at different parts each time. I think... the first time, I looked around at the rubble, the second time, I went into the church, and the third time, I went into a shop that was still kind-of standing."

Since she hadn't mentioned the store before, Anise supposed she should elaborate a little on that. "Oh, and there wasn't much in the shop. Just lots of broken things, and food that went bad a really long time ago... and money that was just like the notes in the church." It took a moment to think of an answer for Lelouch's other question. Sometimes it was hard to keep track of time at the institute. "That last time was... three nights ago? It was when it was snowing really heavily outside."
