Nothing from either Intercom Men tonight? That was a change, but not significant enough to deter Maya. The mysterious code from the last intercom announcement she'd heard had been suspicious enough.

She had matters to investigate. She picked up her flashlight and pipe, said a brief "be careful" salutation to Rose, and then stepped out into the corridor.

Nothing seemed to have changed, but it was too early to say for sure. Maya would guess that, what with everyone getting rushed to their rooms, the general had wanted to install something-no doubt something nasty-but no more beyond that. The last-mentioned Medical Wing, perhaps?

Nothing could be achieved by staying here. Maya moved into the next hall.
