It was some time later when Soma awoke, pushing herself instinctively onto her elbows. When had she fallen asleep? It had to have been as soon as she arrived in her room, but she couldn't recall...

More importantly, how much time had passed? She practically leapt off the bed at the thought, opening the box at her desk and pulling her possessions out of it with uncharacteristic abandon. She had just enough time to notice the sudden appearance of extra rounds in the metal box--so last night's fiasco hadn't been entirely futile--before she slammed the lid shut and rushed out the door.
