Billy's heartbeat had slowed just in time to pick up again when the radio responded to his jumbled thoughts. It had been some time since he had felt this shaken and disorganized, but he forced himself to listen to the tired American man on the other side of the radio. It was an odd transmission to intercept, and it got worse as it went on. The speaker was accusing some unknown group of murder. Billy noted the names, Landel and Aguilar. They meant nothing to him.

The relative emptiness of the larger hallway smoothed Billy's advance. The silence of the radio urged him on.
