Night 58: West Wing, South Hall 1-A

Sep 07, 2011 22:18

((From here.))As he stealthily moved through the hall, Spock noted that it was quiet and dark. He didn't detect other patients, nor any hostile lifeforms. Perhaps the rest of the way leading to Dr. McCoy's quarters was in a similar state ( Read more... )

[Coming from here.]

Daemon stepped out into the adjoining hallway, shining his flashlight first one way, then another, to make sure the area was clear. Or at least, no monsters immediatly visible.

"This way," he spoke to Chip as he stepped out into the hall and turned to his right, his light illuminating the corridor. "The stairs should be just down there. But keep your eyes open. The further into the building we go, the more likely there are to be monsters."

He'd only got a step out when his radio hissed to life and he quickly tugged it out of his pocket to catch the transmission, a puzzled frown on his face as the unfamiliar voice spoke. So they had help, somewhere outside, someone dealing with Landel - which meant he wasn't completely gone, unfortunately. Or maybe it was fortunate. Daemon had debts to settle with him, large debts. But as the radio said, it was up to them to deal with Aguilar first.

But the knowledge that there was apparently help out there, aware of them, trying to do something, was encouraging. Daemon wanted ( ... )

So, Daemon really wasn't kidding around with the monsters... Then again, why would he joke about something so serious like that? Chipp nodded to show he understood, wondering if he should be the one to take the lead. The guy did have a... staff-like thingy to protect himself with, but since this place kidnapped random people, Chipp had no idea where this guy was from. It didn't seem right to have this guy take the lead when there was danger, but Chipp figured that meant he had the important job of guarding the back of the party. Yep, that sounded good in his head.

And there were much more surprises that this place was holding, as Chipp heard voices coming from some object the guy was holding. A... radio? It definitely had to be a radio, but what was he doing just listening to stuff if they could transmit a call for help? Or could they? The thing looked so... crappy and old that he could hardly tell what they could do with it ( ... )

"I wish it were that easy," Daemon sighed, holding the radio up in the illumination of his flashlight to show Chipp. "They only work one way. To us, not out. I don't know who's on the other end at the moment, but usually it's people trying to help. Most people carry their radios along with them at night, sometimes it gives clues or hints on where important things are happening, or what can be found. Tomorrow night, when they take you back to your room for dinner, you should be able to find your own. And a flashlight. There's often a few other useful supplies you might be able to pick up as well," he supplied ( ... )

Once again, Chipp had to pause to take in all of this information, though it was slowly coming together in his head. The man named Landels who created and ran this place, Aguilar, the guy running it now, and then this third guy who was apparently trying to help them. He still didn't have much of an idea of what exactly was going on, but now he had a name for the guy they were after. Two names, but it sounded like Aguilar was the one they were after now. Chipp was sure that once they cornered him, there would be plenty of time for him to talk, so he could leave the details out for now.

... And it would have been nice if Daemon mentioned where he could have found a flashlight sooner. Not that Chipp could have put his knowledge to use any sooner. On the other hand, he probably shouldn't get lazy. Training, Zanuff, you're training! It was a good thing that Daemon had everything, at least. It was probably overkill if they both were dragging around stuff ( ... )

"From what I've been able to gather, yes," Daemon answered with a slight nod. "I admit, I've been out of it for a short while myself, and the change in power happened in the time I missed. Landel's whereabouts are unknown, but Aguilar's the one running things now, in here. So he's the one we've got to find if we want any hope of shutting this place down. No one gets out while it's still up and running, it seems ( ... )

Being told that it wouldn't matter if he even got outside really made Chipp wonder just where the hell he ended up landing in. He didn't bother to disguise his surprise in the slightest, glancing at Daemon warily. Was this guy serious? The more he talked about it, the more it seemed like Chipp landed himself in interdimensional prison rather then just some weird research facility. On the other hand, if the government was capable of doing that... Well, maybe it wasn't that much of a stretch, but it was still really freaking bizarre in Chipp's mind ( ... )
