DAY 59: CAFETERIA

Sep 30, 2011 11:48

Billy surfaced into wakefulness. Sleep receded like an inky tide, and it didn't say anything to him before it was gone. His dreams had been nothing but the sensation of water, rocking him restlessly in his bottle. There seemed to be an ocean beyond his confines, but he couldn't see it and couldn't reach it. He pawed at the glass, but any progress ( Read more... )

[ hope you don't mind someone loud.... >> ]

"Shut up! And SCREW YOU TOO!Chipp was not a man who took injustice lying down, so he naturally had the idea - no, the instinct - to attack the first soldier who tried to collect him for the morning. Even without the Ki, and despite the fact the soldier might have also been able to set him on fire, Chipp thought that a surprise strike would work. To his surprise and extreme dismay, not only was he unable to get a surprise attack in, but the soldier had somehow foreseen this and had backup ready and available. Being outnumbered with three people who could possibly set him on fire was enough for even Chipp to back down, however reluctantly, and it came with the punishment of not being able to eat, and not being permitted to sit. And when Chipp protested loudly, he was warned that the punishment list could go on if he wanted to try it ( ... )

[LOUD FRIENDS ARE ALSO WELCOME :D]

As hard as Kibitoshin was trying to wallow in his own self-pity, it was kind of impossible not to get distracted by the goings on around him. Not that the cafeteria was usually that arresting, of course, but it sounded as though one patient was being noisy enough to change that single-handedly. He couldn't help but wince, trying not to pay attention to the man's considerable military escort in case it was taken the wrong way. The last thing he needed this morning was to get in trouble for looking overly sympathetic (though he was sympathetic) and ( ... )

Most people would have conceded that Kibitoshin had a point. Chipp Zanuff was not like most people, though, and just waved off the other man's perfectly reasonable explanation. So what if they had guns?! That was the easy part ( ... )

It was probably a good thing that Chipp could see for himself why the master plan of charging in unarmed and trying to wrestle the guns from trained military offices might not work, because Kibitoshin had no idea how he could possibly break it down any further than was already patently obvious. Not that he could think badly of Chipp for suggesting it at all when he didn't have any solutions himself- and maybe he was just really new or something.

"Believe me," he said with a sigh, "if I still had my powers I wouldn't still be sitting here. But without them..." He pulled a face. "We're all sort of stuck." Which really was infuriating; if he could still teleport this entire nightmare would be over in ten minutes. All he'd have to do would be to find Goku (older version) and Vegeta and bring them back here, and then...

But that was just wishful thinking. He couldn't will his powers into existence again, as much as he wanted to ( ... )

Most people might have found Kibitoshin's question stupid and told him so, but Chipp only grinned in response. Perhaps he was glad for the chance to educate someone and how important being the President is and show the fruits of his labor, and maybe get a vote in the process. Getting people involved in voting was important, after all! Without that, how could he become President in the first place?

"A President is the leader!" Chipp exclaimed, about to sit down once again so he could explain in better detail to his breakfast companion before catching himself, perhaps just in time. Damn, this was seriously getting annoying. "A President is a leader that the people vote in, and she's the person that makes the... uh," Chipp paused, frowning for a moment as he tried to remember how that worked exactly. Erica was the President, but she didn't really... make the rules by herself, did she? He scratched his head and tried again ( ... )

Oh, thank goodness! Rather than being laughed at, he was actually going to have something explained to him! Eagerly, the Kaioshin leaned in and look up at Chipp with a look of utmost seriousness, carefully listening to every word. A president, then, was: a leader who is voted in (though into where he wasn't sure- maybe some sort of secret society?) who makes laws that evil villains vote on too (though that seemed kind of counter-intuitive- why would you let evil people vote?). Also they made other nations attack their people because... okay, he'd missed that part. But they did it drastically.Well. That made perfect sense ( ... )

"Yeah, that's the spirit!" Chipp grinned, glad to see his swayed one person in doing his patriotic duty... or something like that. But wait a minute, what did he mean "on Earth"? Before Chipp could properly contemplate the meaning behind those words, he was thrown another question that would have made him choke if he was actually allowed to eat at the moment. "Wait... what?"

What the hell?! "Why the hell would I have to be a woman to become President?!"

Where did that... Oh. Realizing his mistake, Chipp shook his head and held up his hands, not looking flustered at all but rather confused. Right, Erica was a girl, wasn't she? "No, no, Presidents can be guys or women! Cuz, the President I met, she was a girl and that's how she did shit, so ... you know, that's how it is!"

Seriously, what kind of question was that? Chipp didn't seem to realize that with the kind of face he was making and the harshness of his words might given anyone the impression that he was offended rather then confused.

Kibitoshin should have known he'd have to wince for the answer to that question. I-it wasn't his fault, though, really! How was he supposed to know about Earth etiquette like that? It was, after all, only one little planet in a great big galaxy. Admittedly, he had spend a disproportionately large amount of time there lately, but most of that was fighting off alien invasions and slaying monsters- he certainly hadn't had a chance to take in the local colour.

That said, there was enough force behind Chipp's retort that he had to cringe inwardly and wonder if he'd missed something huge. Should he have known about presidents? Had he missed something really, really obvious somehow ( ... )

"The hell are you apologizing to me for?" Now Chipp just looked confused, not just because of this guy acting all scared but also because he said it again. He wasn't familiar with... "Earth". Now, Chipp did know that Daemon told him something last night that did imply that this place had people who were from entirely different "worlds" but the full meaning of that had yet to sink in. So he honestly wanted to ask Kibitoshin about that, feeling like it was something important ( ... )

"I-isn't it obvious?" he managed, ducking his head all the more. "I thought that sounded insulting and you looked kind of angry, so..." Kibitoshin tailed off, slowly realising that he was only making things worse. He really needed to learn when to stop talking- which, generally seemed to be before he even opened his mouth ( ... )

"I'm not angry!" That declaration didn't help when Chipp really did look angry, but that look faded when Kibitoshin explained his role: not as President, but... Guardian of the Universe? That shit sounded really serious, and also really confusing when Chipp gave it a second thought: Wow, these guys were serious if they captured the guardian of the freaking universe. Nevermind how they did it, because there were more important questions to ask!

This "not being able to sit down" shit was getting really annoying. Chipp wished he could have taken a seat and showed a little more respect to someone who was so highly ranked (even though he didn't really know how this shit worked - oh well, that's why he was asking, right?)

"Guardian, huh... Well, even if it's not the same, how'd you get that position? Were you voted in? How'd you do it?" Hopefully it wasn't anything too weird, but this guy seemed pretty nice and legitimate. Chipp found it hard to believe that this guy wasn't chosen for his position by others; the only kind of leaders he ( ... )
