Night 59: Main Hallway, 1-Center

Oct 24, 2011 12:11

[from here]Just like last night, Vino turned the bend to find that he was first in the main hallway again. He couldn't decide if he preferred it or not. Patience wasn't his favorite virtue, but he supposed he'd have to wait. The two meeting places he would have to be at were right next to each other, right? So that was fine. If he had to wait a ( Read more... )

Neku was somewhat wary after his trip down the hall, but no worse for the wear. He'd managed to make it without so much as a scratch, though he didn't have to use his headphones or his Psychs to tell that there were a lot more of the usual creepy crawlies than was normal. He flicked his light from the ground to one of the figures near the Sun Room door.

All told, Neku knew very little of the man he'd come to help, other than that he'd been the one to injure him. But at least he could make amends and then maybe the guy would quit stalking his bulletin notes. Or telling everyone about his powers. Or being so weirdly interested in them. Then again...

"Hey," Neku called, once he caught sight of the man standing in the darkness, seemingly unbothered by any of the things moving or strange sounds of crawling about.

Vino had spent the last few moments pacing. More people had already started to show up, but none of them were people he knew. Really, would he have to give up on seeing the kid again? That was hardly good conduct, right? Ditching one meeting for emergency reasons was fine, but ditching two? Hardly polite! And the sounds of fights and monster attacks from the next hall and in the surrounding shadows was making him even more impatient. He wanted to join in on all the fun. Things were happening all around, tonight, and he didn't want to miss it just because he was waiting for someone!

He might have left if it weren't for a familiar voice just then. Vino quit pacing as he turned to see the kid who had agreed to meet him. Finally"Oh, there you are," he said, tone pleasant enough, but the impatience still showed. "Glad you could come this time! Almost thought I'd have to leave on my own again ( ... )

Despite his rush, he still managed to fall behind. The guy was already getting impatient by the time Neku arrived, and it showed, if only a little. Neku supposed he might feel the same, and he did owe the man the favor. He'd been the one to injure him in the first place. With any luck, his newfound powers would be working like they had before. At least he had that much in his favor.

In a lot of ways, the guy reminded him of a kid. A big kid, maybe, but a kid all the same. He shook his head, "just stay still."

Taking in a slow breath, Neku held one hand out, palm open, the other resting on the ear of his headphones. A steady beat was enough to help him concentrate, and before long, the pin activated, releasing a soft green glow that fell over Vino like glittering rain. Even if it wasn't a fully mastered pin, it should still do the trick.

Vino opened his mouth to reply, then closed it again as the kid held his hand out. It looked like he was about to do something. So Vino watched quietly, eyeing the green glow that appeared around him with wide-eyed curiosity. Much like a kid, indeed. The strange phenomenon was enough to temporarily distract Vino from even the lurking monsters in the shadows, as well as the sound of distant battles being fought.

He hadn't doubted that the healing would work at all, but it was still an exciting moment when Vino felt the injuries disappear just like that. Amazing! He pulled the sleeve up from his right arm, and sure enough, the scars from the lightning burn were gone.

His left shoulder seemed to be healed as well. Vino couldn't be bothered to take the time to check under the bandages. The pain was gone though, so he figured it would work just fine.

In other words, the boy's ability had worked like a charm! Amazing!

"Whoa, that was awesome!" Vino commented, pleased. "Thanks for that."

It seemed to do the trick. Not only did it keep the man quiet for a few moments, the healing Psych worked just like it used to, back in Shibuya. Kind of strange, but he wasn't about to complain at this point, and he'd a feeling his friend from the bulletin wasn't either.

"It's no prob. Least I could do," he shrugged, wondering if that was all. He hadn't felt so well himself the other night, but tonight, it was like everything was back to normal. He felt pretty well healed up himself. No more creepy zombie vibes. Seemed a shame to waste that kind of potential.

"I guess I'll see you around then."

At this point, Vino was still marveling at the fact that he'd just been completely healed by glowing, green sparkles. Which was amazing. He'd given in to peeking under the bandages around his shoulder in the end, pulling the collar of the military shirt away so he could check under the wrappings. Completely healed over, skin like new, not even a hint of a scar left over. And just yesterday, he'd had a hole drilled through his shoulder muscle. Awesome!

A moment later though, he returned the kid's words with a smile. "Sure thing!" he said, then added a repeated, but entirely sincere, "But really, thanks."

They both probably had other things to get to. But when someone did a favor for you, it was only polite to at least learn their name, right?

"I never did get your name, did I?" Vino said, already set to go on his way. He only waited around long enough to catch whatever response the boy might have given back before turning to leave (west, the map had said). "The name's Vino, by the way," he threw back over his shoulder.
