The phrase ladies first nearly crossed from thought to his mouth and in this rare instance he managed to refrain from saying something that could be misinterpreted. Besides, he had to be the hero in this situation so he smiled soft and shrugged. "I don't mind. I'm trying to find my way home," which was imperative. If he had to choose he might have to ditch his friend. He didn't want to admit that, however. But the things he'd seen under the doc's influence...

"So," he placed his hands behind his head, keeping an eye around for anything that might crawl out from the unexpected. "You trying to get home, too?" There had been something very briefly that had caused his hackles to rise but he'd awoken in his room before he and his companion at the time had been able to investigate. He would rather not have something jump out at them unexpectedly, mainly because a) it was terrifying and b) he needed to at least act like a proper hero.
