His instincts led them to a door on the left-hand side of the first intersecting hallway. It was unlocked, but Goku was more interested in the scent of the wood than actually opening the door. A stumpy had was placed against the worn grain.
"Everyone's gone," he said before looking back the way he had come. "Most of their trails jes disappear, but I can smell one of 'em. Maybe two up here."

Goku pulled his tail free of the closing door behind him and stared bug-eyed in the quiet and quasi-darkness. Here and there the young boy could pick up the scent or feeling of a nearby monster, but nothing close enough to be on alert.
That left him with Rita, alone. With a witch! It was a rather daunting experience, but what else was there to do? They had to wait for Taura.
"So, what's wrong with her?"
