The conversation at breakfast was enough to leave him feeling uncertain, though it was something of a relief, he supposed, that Kurogane understood. Yuuhi was to blame, as usual, but at least they were both agreed in going after Sakura. Still, there was a wall in front of them. How to get to her? How to reach the doctor again? Problems they'd been trying to answer for some time.
He made his way to the Sun room, glancing over the bulletin for any new information. Maybe if he could get in touch with the right people, their goal would be one step closer. He picked up a pen and started flipping through notes.
There was at least one thing that was better about this place posing as a real mental institute rather than a military camp, and that was that they actually actively looked after your wounds when you were hurt. Shiina felt at ease knowing that Shou would be attended to by the staff. Whatever reservations she had against trusting older people could be put aside if they were going to make themselves useful and actually do their job.
Moving on the the Sun Room after breakfast, Shiina took Harvey's advice from the day before to heart and moved to start scouring the bulletin for clues to last night's madness. One particular note mentioned the giant bird from the grounds and Shiina almost jerked away from the memory of it. Yes, she knew exactly what the man was talking about. Taking up a pen of her own, she moved hastily to respond and accidentally bumping into a man beside her in the process
( ... )
It wasn't unusual for the bulletin to be crowded or for more than one person to be perusing the notes, so when the young woman stepped up beside him and began looking intently through the papers, he gave her a cursory glance and left an easy smile on his lips. It wasn't until the woman startled and began writing with such enthusiasm that she bumped him that he finally spoke to her.
"No harm done," he shook his head, waving off the apology. "Is everything alright? I hope you didn't find any upsetting news. It's kind of hard to know what to expect to find on the bulletin some days."
ffff, sorry for the late, lj was being a meanie :(requitedfateDecember 7 2011, 17:02:42 UTC
The man she ran into had a very distinctive eyepatch that Shiina politely managed to keep from staring at. He at least didn't seem upset by her clumsiness, which was one less worry to dwell on. The note, however, still had her on edge.
"It's just..." Shiina licked her dry lips. Her eyes darted to the board then back up at the blond man. Her smiled strained. "I'm just now starting to realize exactly how dangerous this place is. I never would have guessed that the monsters could be real and I guess it just struck me that what I saw last night wasn't a dream."
It was pretty disturbing for a relatively normal (or as normal as any clone could be) girl to wake up one day to a institute of terrors in an unknown country that seemed so very far, far away from her own. But all things considered, Shiina thought she was taking the transition pretty darn well.
No worries! You still wanna backthread some?not_rly_faiDecember 8 2011, 17:47:31 UTC
It was easy to forget, having been in the institute for over a month now, just what it was like to be new and scared and have no idea what was going on. Not that he had really made much progress since, but at least he had some experience. He nodded once, friendly smile never once leaving his lips.
"I can definitely understand. I never thought I'd end up somewhere like this, not even in my wildest dreams," he gave a short, humorless laugh.
Certainly! For as long as you're up for it! o/requitedfateDecember 9 2011, 10:05:40 UTC
He had an easy smile that seemed to promise understanding. While Shiina didn't trust anyone who smiled too easily, Fai didn't seem very old or look to be a politician. Besides, even if he was someone trying to curry good relations with the patient body, why would he care for the opinion of a possibly insane teenage girl?
Shou might be a little less inclined to trust people so soon, but Shiina felt like she could trust this man at least.
"It's nice to meet you, Fai-san," Shiina said politely, bowing her head. "I'm Nagasawa Shiina."
She smiled a little easier and chuckled in an attempt to rid the remainder of her hesitation. "I wonder if I'll ever get used to this place. At least now it actually looks like they're attempting to make us think it's a crazy house. I wonder if those military people will be back someday

Yuuhi was never quite certain with some names whether he should call them by the first or last. In some worlds one was polite and proper and the other too casual, and in others it was the reverse. In cases like these, he decided it was best to just try the easiest name. And Shiina was a lot easier to say than Nagasawa.
"Nice to meet you too!" he chirped, trying to imitate the bow without much success.
As for her other questions, Yuuhi honestly wasn't all that sure himself. He'd been here for well over a month now and the military presence was the first he'd seen. It hadn't lasted long either, not in comparison to the long run the head doctor had.
"This is more what I'm used to. The military people were polite and everything, but this seems a little more relaxed, doesn't it?"
\o\ Yeah!requitedfateDecember 13 2011, 03:39:34 UTC
Fai's attempt at a bow was charming. Shiina wasn't used to watching foreigners attempt Japanese etiquette. She had to stop a moment to keep from giggling.
"Yes, I guess you're right." Relaxed was definitely better. Shiina hadn't enjoyed being surrounded by people with guns. It reminded her a little too much of her last few weeks in Japan.
"I was told this was a fake asylum, but I didn't understand the military involvement. I think I'll be better off if the nurses are always nice like this." Better than sour-faced soldiers, anyway. "So, what do you usually do around here, Fai-san?"
It couldn't all just be mindless activities and pauses to eat, right?
"Oh you must've come in right when things changed over then. It's sort of... complicated," he scratched his head. He understood a lot more than he let on, but much of it was still a mystery to him. What'd become of the military, what'd become of Marc, and just how the doctor had managed to regain power, who could say for sure?
"As long as it stays like this there's nothing to worry about in the daytime. The staff here is really kind. I think most of them have no idea," he said honestly, making sure not to mention the few nights he'd seen just what the staff could change into when things got dark.
"Me?" he was a little surprised by her last question. He'd gone through many of the clubs, started his own at one time, lost everyone he'd cared about... what was left to do? Betray my fellow patients to the crazy man running this place didn't seem like a very good answer. "A little bit of everything I guess? Sometimes I help out with the clubs, sometimes I take the night off for exploring. What about you? Have you found anything
( ... )
"Seems that way," Shiina chuckled. She hoped he wasn't hiding any information because she was teenager. Those kinds of people kind of irked her, but Fai was still pretty young-looking himself so that didn't seem to be the case

Shiina seemed to be warming up a bit as they spoke, he noticed, making sure to smile and nod in all the right places. She understood well enough and it sounded like she was lucky enough to have someone from her own world here with her.
"Is that right?" he replied, rubbing his chin for a moment, "what kind of information are you looking for? Maybe we can help each other out a little. I've been here long enough that I might have a clue or two. Who knows, right?"
At her last comment he made sure to chuckle and wave it off. Nevermind that magic was included in his primary fighting style. Or that he was the strongest magician in Celes (with the exception of one unfortunate ruler). Or that the blue eye that looked back at her was in fact the source of his unnatural magic. "That's quite a story, don't you think? I can't imagine!"
"Information on getting out," Shiina said immediately, her brows drawing together in concentration. "Or anything about Martin Landel. Or that military regime that was in place before him."
She needed whatever bits she could get to pass on to Shou. He was the real mastermind in her small group of contacts, and the only person she trusted to come up with a plan of action. He seemed to have a clue already, but she wasn't going to leave any stone unturned. "I'd really appreciate anything you could tell me. Knowledge is power, right?"
Shiina touched her head sheepishly. It sounded crazy but... "Strange thing is, I sorta believe her. I mean, there are monster things here, so why not, y'know?"
