Night 60: Sun Room

Dec 22, 2011 03:26

[From here]Hakkai slipped into the room, playing his flashlight around the wide space to see if there were any foes - or friends. For the moment, though, it looked like he was alone. He stuck close to the wall, keeping an eye out as he skirted the edge of the room to the bulletin board, but still nobody. Had the person he was supposed to be meeting ( Read more... )

sorry for the late! fuukaenbujin December 26 2011, 09:22:13 UTC
[from here]The room was dark enough, but the glass ceiling overhead let in enough light that Kurama would still have been able to see. He kept the flashlight on, though ( ... )

Hakkai barely managed to keep himself from starting at the sudden presence of someone else by him. He tensed, though, and it was a moment before he could replace the look of surprise with his usual polite smile - though slightly frayed at the edges at the moment.

The man was a stranger to him - the one he was supposed to meet? It was hard to say - he seemed ordinary enough. Very polite, too. Only one way to find out, he supposed.

"Ah, I was. The weather seems quite nice tonight - quite a change from last night."

Kurama's presence must have been as unexpected as the other's to himself, because even in the dimness of the Sun Room with the flashlight pointed away, his slightly more enhanced night vision allowed him to notice that it took a while for the man to recover from his surprise. The fact that it took a while was an indication of something. It either indicated exactly what sort of environment this place was compared to the day... or that there was a specific reason the man before him had reacted in this way. But on the other hand, it seemed that it wasn't only going to be his demon powers that would be limited; Kurama was fairly certain that he should have been able to discern the man's expressions more clearly, but it was now apparent that they must have dulled his senses, as well ( ... )

this is a game that nobody wins. NOBODY. vinesofregret December 29 2011, 12:00:48 UTC
Hakkai could feel his heart go just a touch faster. This was it, then - his message board correspondent. He had not been certain what he'd been expecting the person to be like, or even if the reality matched those uncertain explanations. Seimei was polite, though, which was a start, given their conversation. Hakkai did not wish for another fight, right now, but he couldn't let his guard drop entirely.

The smile stayed for the moment, though. "It's a pleasure to meet you, then. I'm Cho Hakkai." He paused for a moment, and then added, "I believe we spoke on the message boards?"

Mike entered the room, glancing over to his companions. So, this was the way to the basement, huh? It seemed like a rather odd way of getting there. Ah well, as long as it worked, Mike didn't really care.

His gaze turned to Niikura in particular--lead the way.

"Yeah, nice we're getting decent food now..." Shiina would take even the pink goo over moldy food any day, but today had been perfectly normal food and it had been perfectly edible too. Double points.

They entered the Sun Room and Shiina looked around at the variety of doors awaiting exploration. Shou seem to know where this basement was, but Shiina hadn't a clue. "Where do we go from here?"

That would be the second person today who'd managed to tie him in with "stuffing your face". Did he look like that kind of person? What was it about his eating habits that made it look like he was being a pig? Okay, so he could eat quickly when he was really hungry, but come on...he wasn't that fast or that messy. Honestly ( ... )

That he felt no enemies upon entering didn't give the ninja any reason to relax. He kept his guard, even after seeing patients seemingly going about their business. He'd been fooled once before when he had been able to sense something and would not allow himself to be tricked a second time.

"The basement is sort of a... hidden level, I suppose," Ilia said over her shoulder as they started through the Sun Room. Truth be told, she wouldn't even know about the place if Claude and Anise hadn't spilled the beans due to their latest fiasco.

Seishin posed a good question. Ilia was almost embarrassed to answer him without having concrete details but it was better than leaving him without an answer at all. "It's still all hearsay, but supposedly the basement leads to a way out of this place. There's not any real evidence to back it up, but it's the only clue we have."

"It has a lot of doors. And prizes. Ergo, it is where we are intended to go."

That didn't necessarily mean it was the place they should go. Rose Lalonde was not entirely opposed to playing outside the rules -- a little hacking, in the physical sense -- but she hadn't yet seen a reason to start blowing things up.

Not to mention the lack of things to blow shit up with, given that the only time she'd had anything close to enough power, everything around them had been in God Mode.
