Jack didn't mind taking charge and leading his traveling party up the stairs. In fact, having been denied weapons by the midget (and who was he to deny JACK HORNER, GREATEST FUCKIN' FABLE EVER, weapons? He had a good mind to just take the from Sasuke when Mark wasn't looking; wasn't like Sasuke would see him do it), Jack found it necessary to take temporary control and remind the other two that he was the one without deformities or handicaps.
Also, he had the key, so they'd better respect his awesomeness. Sulking somewhat (but trying not to show it) for not being allowed to arm himself, he trudged with the others to the hallway at the top.
