Aidou tsked at the people who thought they could just flash their flashlights at him and go on their merry way. How annoying. Once he got far enough ahead, he was definitely going to make sure that he could ghost around whatever bumbling people decided to crowd up his hallways.
How many people could really pick out a vampire's movements in the dark, especially when they were trying to go unnoticed, anyway? It wasn't easy. Akin to listening for the sound of snow falling. Some creatures that were used to them could sense them, animals and hunters both by instinct... and it was easy for Aidou to sense another of his before they could sense him, being able to see in the dark aside. He was already quite a powerful vampire, and there were far more who were weaker than him, than stronger than him. Easy to discern those guys. Sometimes other nobles got tricky, though... As he silently passed through the west hallway, Aidou repressed a sigh. Akatsuki had snuck up on him here, all right, had suddenly been standing right there under the glow of a red moon.
Strange, how he hadn't considered it much before: Akatsuki had gotten the jump on Aidou a number of times in childhood.
This time, Aidou resisted the urge to gnash his teeth. This line of thought wasn't going to help him at all. Focus, focus! He quickened his pace a little out of annoyance, ignoring the connecting hallways and approaching the fourth set of stairs.
