Nightshift 37: Activities Shed

[From here]

On reaching the shed, Depth Charge was forced to reign himself in and actually process the situation. They called this a 'shed'? Scrap that! It was more than twice his size in height and width, a towering white blockade gleaming in the moonlight. Now that he was up close and personal he could hear a groaning, creaking sound that seemed to resonate from deep within the building and gave it an ominous depth which he would otherwise have missed. And to top it all off, the doors were locked.

He studied them carefully- like the rest of the shed they were wooden, and spread across most of the front. The, meanwhile, lock was rustier than one of Rattrap's wisecracks. Depth Charge weighed up his options- he could either head back for help or attempt to break the doors down by himself. The latter option was by far the riskier; there was no way for him to work out whether or not his human form would be able to bust 'em open without damaging itself, not to mention the fact that he had no way of knowing if there were more locks on the inside that he couldn't see. In all, turning back looked like the most sensible choice.

Like slag.

Stepping back a few meters, Depth Charge took a deep breath, braced himself and hurtled towards the doors as swiftly as his legs could carry him.

Contact was short, sharp and painful. As he crashed into the doors he heard both himself give a loud grunt of pain and effort and the sound of wood splintering and giving way. Barely and astrosecond later and he was in, tumbling onto the floor inside the shed with an almighty thump. Depth Charge lay there groaning, for some time, feeling his entire body ache from the impact, until finally he found the strength to get back up and start to look around. At least it had been worth it- as he directed his torch into every nook and cranny, he realised that every nook and cranny was filled with equipment, from balls to nets to bats. Not that he particularly cared what they were used for. All that mattered was that, wielded properly, they easily could knock someone out.
