Day 38: Doctor's Office #2 (Dr. House) [4th Shift]

Jan 19, 2009 02:40

Well, the little kid had been about as seemingly inoffensive as he'd been unhelpful - mostly because he'd proved to be the less intense kind of crazy than House had originally hoped. This was why House found insane people more interesting than your run-of-the-mill assholes: they abided by their own dysfunction; no self-righteous tantrums, no societal neuroses, just plain, old-fashioned crazy. Even if they were annoying people, it was at least all rooted in medical fact and thus posed a more interesting solution than people being people. Everybody lied, but at least insane people actually believed their own misconceptions wholeheartedly. It made them easier to deal with and more fun to diagnose.

Granted, no one here fit the bill as well as Martin Landel would've liked his clients to think, which was becoming clearer and clearer to House by the day. While it made the whole patient population even less interesting than previously thought, it sure as hell meant there was some kind of drug in the food that kept these richies delusional and paying. Or at least that was House's running theory.

Hey, weirder things had happened.

house, jiraiya
