Nightshift 43: Room of Earth

[From here.]

As expected, the moment Sync let the door shut a loud 'click' could be heard from the other side. Unsurprisingly, he hadn't bothered to try and wedge something in the crack; after all, there was no point when there was nothing more than a dead end behind them. Of course, a small part of him knew that he should've tried both doors just in case, but it was obviously too late.

Yet the God-General didn't have time to linger in his thoughts. Almost immediately a loud noise cut through the air, the ground beneath them vibrating as the roar persisted. Sync was about to take a step forward when a massive boulder suddenly rolled out of one of the several holes at the ends of the room. The rock only continued to roll, moving all the way back up into the steep slope and disappearing into the hole right across from the origin.

... Well now.

"Anise, put your stuff in Dahlia's bag. Dahlia, give your bag to me. Hurry." Even as he spoke he saw another boulder roll out of another one of the holes, this time only a few feet away from where they stood. Sync knew he had the best chance of getting through this 'obstacle course' with the added weight, and he could only hope that the other two understood that bout of common sense as well.

Of course, he wouldn't deny that he thought about leaving them behind, but then that'd just be too easy.

dahlia, sync, anise
