Night 45: Main Hallway, 1-West

[from here]

Once away from the safety of the patient block, Momo slowed down as she traveled along the left hand wall to cover her blind spot. In this position, she could easily draw her sword and deal with issues as they arose. Hopefully, there would be none.

Momo had too much on her mind to want to deal with anything she didn't have to.

Jason immediately turned away from the patient blocks as he entered the next hall, glancing back at Two-Face now that they were safely away from the freak cat. "Fine, if you're so worried I'll drop it for now. How've you been dealing with the nightlife here? Anything out there think you'd make a tasty, half-charred snack?" He knew Two-Face could handle himself alright in Gotham but the stuff here wasn't the usual fare and it would be a pain if Two-Face used all his bullets on stupid animals because he was scared to get his hands dirty.

It was for the best that Jason didn't try to put up a fight about it. Maybe Harvey was being overly cautious, but that was better than getting caught red-handed and really having their plans ruined. Having everything slip between their fingers just wasn't worth the laziness of sticking around in some exposed hallway, especially when there was a monster attack so nearby.

He was shocked that they'd been able to walk past what had looked something like a cat without attracting attention, but it seemed that the creature knew better than to take on too many people at once. If it had been one patient trying to fight on their own, Harvey might have felt compelled to flip his coin over whether or not to get involved, but it looked like the two would be able to handle it even if they got scratched up in the process ( ... )

Carefully avoiding the other people he could vaguely make out in the darkness, Jason kept moving towards the opposite end of the building. It tended to be more private away from the patient blocks and that might be enough for Dent's paranoia. It better be ( ... )

Despite the chaos that had come with the zombies a few nights ago, Harvey had been lucky enough to come out of it unscathed. He knew that part of that had been due to coin-induced cowardice, but he could have just as easily charged in to help Jones and Franziska if it had landed the other way. You win some, you lose some. Though he supposed the important question was whether that had been a win or a loss.

Flying things with teeth and acid spurters, huh? Those weren't very detailed descriptions, but chances were that Jason hadn't gotten the oppourtunity to get a very good look at whatever had been attacking him. Just a week or so ago, Harvey would have said the kid was crazy. Now he was just glad he hadn't run into those things himself.

He didn't much appreciate the joke about a 'matched set,' but it wasn't worth getting worked up over. He did consider jabbing the kid in the side with his elbow to give him a piece of his mind, but getting into a scuffle would just take up time.

He did let out a snort at Jason's last comment, and ( ... )

Jason wordlessly changed direction at Dent's suggestion, heading for the stairwell instead. It was as good a place as any to go as far as he was concerned but damned if he knew if Two-Face would stop being such an uptight bastard when they got upstairs so they could get down to business already.

He wasn't expecting the question about metas and shoot Two-Face a puzzled look as he tried to figure out if he just hadn't heard them referred to like that. Surely everyone knew about the worthless dress-ups with their fancy powers? The bastards were fucking everywhere and never bothered with subtlety or secrecy. Not knowing Robin was one thing - Batman had been operating in Gotham alone for a while before he took in Dickie - but metas like Big Blue had been around as long as the Bat himself. "You know, metahumans. Like that one in Metropolis with the tights and cape?"
