Nightshift 48: Main File Storage

As soon as von Karma entered the room, he placed the screwdriver and the screws in his pocket, then retrieved his flashlight. Making sure to close his eyes again to avoid blindness, he illuminated it once again. Instantly, the hot orange glow from the beam burst from outside his closed eyes, taking a minute to subside gradually. He squinted his eyes open, allowing them to grow accustomed to the light, and peered around this unfamiliar room.

Filing cabinets. Rows of filing cabinets. More filing cabinets than the Court Records archive storage contained. And twice as dusty, he noted with great disapproval.

Once his vision stabilized, he took out his journal to review the names he needed to look for. Appleby, Herb. Hamilton, Walter. ...and von Richter, Wilhelmina. That last one he expected not to find, since the one given that false name was still in this Institute. ...Yes, she was still in this wretched hellhole. She was...

"Mr. Xemnas," he finally spoke to his companion for the first time since they left the stairwell, his voice soft but curt. "This room is alleged to hold records of patients who have been 'released' from the Institute. I am investigating the circumstances of what truly happens to them upon their discharge. You are free to search around in these cabinets. If you're interested in assisting my efforts, report any unusual findings to me. However," he gave the silver-haired man a meaningful look, "as I said before, you will not otherwise disturb me while I'm in the middle of conducting my own search here. Understood?"

von karma, xemnas
