Day 49: Noon - Main Street
Having said goodbye to Remy, Meche paused to think about where to go next. Lunch was the obvious decision, and looking at all the cookbooks had made her hungry anyway. She was pretty sure she remembered a restaurant on the next side street over ("Twin Pines," the coupon said); hopefully it had something a little healthier than burgers. She steeled herself at the bookshop door and ducked out into the rain.
It was really coming down now, and of course the nurses hadn't given any of them an umbrella. Well, it wouldn't do any favors for her hair--it was strange how that came back to her suddenly; she hadn't thought about it in four years--but there wasn't really anything she could do about that, so she decided she might as well get over it now. At least she had a hat and good rain boots.
With one hand pressed to her hat to keep it in place, Meche set off at a brisk jog down Main Street toward where she thought she remembered the Twin Pines was.
