Day 49: Early Afternoon - Callahan's Grocer

Apr 30, 2010 15:18

After his conversation with Ingram, Venkman was having second thoughts about talking to patients on his day off. True, the conversation hadn't been a bad one. In fact, it had probably been one of the most candid talks he'd had since moving to Doyleton; it could almost have been called refreshing if Ingram hadn't been, well, Ingram. That was the problem, though. He had probably been just a little too candid. Sure, it had been good to get some of his frustrations off his chest. In hindsight, though, giving Ingram so many details about his former line of work probably wasn't going to help much when it came time for their next session. If Ingram was under the impression that some of Venkman's ideas were just as crazy-sounding as his own, it might make reasoning with him that much harder and more annoying next time.

Screw it. Just save work for a work day. Shoulda done that from the start, he finally decided, leaving the area near the patient buses and heading down to the grocery store. He was getting low on a few foods and snacks at home, so he figured he might as well pick up some meat and a few other things he could make a late lunch out of. When he arrived, he said a quick "hi" to Callahan and grabbed a small shopping basket. The lack of wide selection in a small town grocer's like this was a bit frustrating, but at least the guy running it was decent and learned people's names quickly enough, which sort of made up for it.

He started near the front at the produce section, eying some fresh apples and other fruits first.
