Having figured that the man who'd run ahead of him would keep going until he reached the stairs (or at least got to that hallway), Zack was a little surprised to find that he'd stopped. In fact, it looked like the stranger was listening for something. The soldier slowed down himself, instead moving down the hall at a fast walk as he tried to figure out what the other patient was doing. What did he expect to hear? Monsters? The thunder?
If Zack had had a solid meeting place and hadn't had to worry about missing people, he might have stopped to ask, just out of pure curiosity. Still, his duty to his friends urged him to keep up his earlier pace, and so after a small shrug to himself, he continued down the corridor. He was almost at the area where most of the patients seemed to congregate before heading off for the night, so that was his best bet for finding someone.
