Despite the conversation that they'd had, Zack wasn't sure how much he'd really learned about Nanaki. He got the feeling that he would be better off just asking Cloud about it, but when he had so many other questions for his friend, that made it a little tougher. Besides, when the shift ended and they were given the option of going to a whole host of different rooms, it was difficult to know where his friend would have chosen to go ( ... )

Reeve hadn't come outside for exercise, but he found himself in desperate need of some perspective. After the incident last night, which Captain Kirk had validated to some extent, Reeve found that his grasp of the institute's layout was frustratingly poor. He was glad that his luck had taken a turn for the better, and his nurse was willing to let him choose where to go. Right as he'd started to feel his muscles loosen up enough that he was ready to take a jog, a voice reached him from over his shoulder, and Zack realized that it was oddly familiar. Not in the way that he knew who it was off the bat, though -- it was more that sense of knowing that he'd heard it before. Which could just as easily be a trick of the mind, and he turned around to face the stranger with a raised eyebrow ( ... )
