The indignation Natalia had felt following her conversation with Anise had faded, minutely, during dinner. It returned with a vengeance as that man's voice disturbed the air. How could he? What nerve, what absolute unfathomable gall to lie throughout the day, then speak so frankly when night fell. Why pretend at all? Why paint an ( Read more... )

More sleeping patients and vacant rooms. There was no surprise there. Zack felt bad that they were intruding on people's privacy, but it wasn't as if this was for a bad cause. They were just looking for a friend, and he figured most people could understand that. Nonetheless, looking in on sleeping girls did feel kind of creepy, even for him.

They had made it down most of the hall when one of the doors opened onto a disaster zone. The room was torn apart, items were flung everywhere, and even a tray of food had been deposited on the floor.

Cloud was willing to bet that whoever had caused the destruction here was a recent arrival, having just found themself somewhere new and unfamiliar. He assumed this because he'd briefly considered doing something like it himself not long after he'd gotten there himself. He'd just had more time to take things in and act like a rational human being. If he'd woken up to one of Landel's typical nights, his room might have been a good deal messier come the next morning.

Not like this, but still messy. Whoever was staying here might not even be friendly.

Curious, but it didn't bring them any closer to finding Aerith. This wasn't the sign of a struggle, but someone systematically going through everything and tossing it aside. This was purposeful, destructive. Nothing their friend would have done.

With a sigh, he moved on to the next room.
