... it was intriguing. That was hard to deny: the immediate prize of something, somewhere attainable, rather than the indistinct sense of eventuality that characterised the trials of the basement.

Still -- they were closer to one place than the other. And for all the clues that Jack had dropped, and Jill had attempted to leave, none of the patient population had gotten any closer to a tangible escape.

"It was the time in the Library," he confirmed for Aidou. "From what I heard, it was as suspicious as it was proof of aid. He had one of the Institute's creatures with him like a pet, which begs the question as to which side controls what."

As they made their way through the halls, it was all Zack could do to keep up with the two other patients, which was a bit ridiculous considering that his legs were a good deal longer. Which was nothing against Sasuke and Aidou, of course; if anything, it just proved that they knew these halls like they had been walking them for their entire lives

The radio message was just more silly treasure hunts, of course. Could he really expect less? If Marc was going to be the successor to Alec Doyle or Jack or whoever, then he’d have to be equally as annoying and cryptic in order to fit the bill. And at that, it seemed he would succeed

Colleagues, huh? That certainly didn't put him in a good light, then. Granted, the guy must have had a reason to turn around and start helping the patients instead, but that all seemed to be in the past. It could have been a huge act, but it hardly seemed to matter when it was old news.

"And how about the new guy? Does he have any connection to Landel?" It was possible that there was no way of telling that yet, seeing how Marc was apparently pretty new to the whole radio gig. Still, Zack figured it was worth asking. If anyone was going to know something like that, it would probably be Aidou.

But as they moved further down the hall, he was suddenly reminded of something. Tifa. He'd told her that she could come along, but now that they had Sasuke she wouldn't have to force herself. Seeing how she was already injured, it was probably best if she didn't
