Another bare hallway, Asuka observed once she poked her head out of the F-A block and shined her light back and forth. Even when she left her room rather promptly, there was almost always a handful of patients coming or going. Maybe she had just been way too uptight tonight for this mission. But was that such a terrible thing? This ( Read more... )

There was still only silence, with no sign of the danger they'd been promised. In a way, that was worse; Peter just felt unsettled, on edge, and waiting for the shoe to drop. He tried to take deep breaths, to keep himself calm and ready for whatever might come next, but he knew that whatever it was? He would never be prepared. He hadn't been the last few times.

As predictable as the Head Doctor was, there were certain things that a person just couldn't ever be prepped for.

Luckily, they were almost to Claire's room, and Peter almost wanted to believe that they'd be safe there. He glanced back to his niece, but didn't even try for a smile this time. He was too antsy for that right now. "How are you holding up?"

Great. Worse than monsters. Granted, Claire could safely say that she'd dealt with worse things in her life than what the monsters had put her through -- well, correction, worse things than what Landel's monsters put her through, seeing as she wasn't even close to prepared to say she didn't file Sylar under the 'monster' category. Saving her from Canfield hadn't changed that. As soon as Peter continued moving, she caught up, shaking herself out of the daze that she'd let the announcement put her in.

They'd just have to worry about it if it came to that -- until then, though, there was nothing much they could do, and judging by Peter's demeanor, he realized as much too. Instead of worrying about it, Claire just kept her eyes peeled for anything suspicious -- which was easier to do in the strange brightness of the institute -- and beelined for her room.
