I once read a novel taking place in a facility much like this one. However, it's been so long that I can't remember the title or most of the plot. I would greatly appreciate it if someone who spent more time reading the novel could fill me in on some of the details.
1. On the second floor of the facility, the protagonist and his friend came across two people fighting a strange monster. Its core resembled a woman pierced by many blades, which could split apart and attack by themselves. It also extruded a shadowy form that took on autonomy and became aggressive What was the monster, and did the two people fighting it escape safely?
2. After the pair slipped past the second floor monster, they arrived in a strange church-like room. It had stained glass windows and pews, but no iconography or symbols relating to any particular religion. At the back of the room was a fountain pouring blood instead of water, and shaped into the image of a most grotesque creature. Before the fountain was a square indentation in the floor and an engraving stating "Any sinner who is injured, step forward and be healed for a price". What was the significance of this room and of the statue and fountain within? Did it relate in any way to the facility as a whole?
