I stole this from that_evening because I too, am a music dork. Heh. This thing is LONG. So I cut for your f-lists sanity. :)
What are you listening to right now?
"Move Along" by the All-American Rejects. I really like the uplifting feel to this song-it's subtly encouraging, and very catchy. I expect it will be just as overplayed as "Dirty Little Secret."
What song makes you sad?
Hmm. "Goodbye Love" from "Rent" always makes me feel sad, just because it signifies the end of friendship and seems to highlight Angel's death. But I also get depressed listening to "...This Time Imperfect" by AFI. I can identify with the solitude of it, and that feeling of being alone always gets me down.
What is the most annoying song in the world?
Most mainstream country music-more specifically, Gretchen Wilson. "Hollaback Girl" too. I miss the old "No Doubt" Gwen. Oh, and I can never forget that stupid "My Humps" song. Good God that song gets on my nerves.
Your all time favourite band?
I'm sure you're all so surprised, but Green Day. They are the reason I'm alive right now, as cliche as it sounds. It's true, however. Without "Nimrod," I might have very well killed myself. Their lyrics never cease to amaze me with their combined poetic and humanist feel, and I have so much respect for them now that they've made "American Idiot," much to the aplomb of their older, "more hardcore" fanbase.
Your newly discovered band is?
The Dresden Dolls. And I'm so happy I've found them. Quirky, unique, beautiful...these words only begin to describe their music. I am so happy I found another band to fall head over heels for. Oh, yes, and I've just found a love for Patti Smith-her lyrics are so AMAZING, and her voice just...compells me. I have to buy her record as soon as possible.
Music type you find yourself listening to most?
Alternative, mostly. I love rock and roll, but most of what I listen to isn't straight up rock. And I love it for that-I love surprising people with my musical tastes.
What do you listen to, to hype you up?
"Minority" by Green Day, "Hitching a Ride" by Green Day, "God Save the Queen" by the Sex Pistols, or "One by One" by the Foo Fighters. All of them put me in a "kick ass" kind of mood.
What do you listen to when you want to calm down?
Angsty, tragic stuff. Anything off of "Origin" by Evanescence (like "Imaginary," "Even in Death," or "Fields of Innocence") or "The Ghost of You" or "Demolition Lovers" by My Chemical Romance. All of them speak to me in a way that slows me down. Another song would be "Death Valley Queen" by Flogging Molly. God, I LOVE that song. It always puts me in a slow, relaxed mood.
Last gig/concert you went to?
Tragically, I'm a concert virgin. :( (But I'm going to see Aerosmith in a month!)
Band you find yourself listening to the most right now?
A definite tie between Green Day and the Dresden Dolls.
Most hated band?
I'm not too fond of hating music, but I can't help myself. Ashlee Simpson and Avril Lavigne come to my mind, as well as other "artists" like them.
Song that makes you think?
"Imagine" by John Lennon. What a beautiful, heartfelt song. It really makes me wonder, what living in a world were there was no heaven or hell would be like...
Band that you think the world should love as much as you do?
The Dresden Dolls. :D
What do you play/would you play in the bedroom to spice things up?
"Dominated Love Slave" by Green Day. Just kidding. Although, it would make for an interesting night...
Can you play a musical instrument?
Only the recorder, which was, like back in the fourth grade.
Ever been in a mosh pit?
Yes. Ha ha. I nearly got killed, but it was fun. =D
Are you in a band?
No.
If yes, what kind of music does your band play and what is your role in it?
-
Ever dated a musician?
No, can't say that I have. I would love too, though.
If no, would you consider?
See answer above.
Do you wish that you were a musician?
All the time, lol.
Last song that you heard on the radio?
"Mambo Number 5," Lol.
What do you think of Classical music?
It is very relaxing and often very beautiful.
What do you think of Country music?
I'm not fond of it, for the most part. There are a select few, however, that have caught my attention.
What do you think of Death metal?
Not my thing. And none of the "metal" acts I listen to would belong to this subgenre. I really don't like it, at all.
Last BIG band that you saw live?
None.
Do you listen to music in foreign languages?
Hell yes.
Best local act you can think of?
Without a doubt, the Talkboxes.
Do you listen to the radio?
Not usually. I love my iPod. :D
Do you watch music TV?
Fuse and Vh1 all the way, baby. Although, I do like making fun of the crap on MTV...
Do you follow the music charts, like the top 40?
I could care less, honestly. Some of the stuff I listen to is on the top, but for the most part, I can't be damned to follow the numbers or rankings.
Have you met any famous musicians?
No.
Are any of your friends/family/etc. musicians?
My grandfather's cousin is Anne Murray. Does that count?
Song that best describes your feelings right now?
"Westbound Sign" by Green Day. I really can't wait to "escape from discontent." But I also really am feeling "Cut Up Angels" by the Used. I don't know. I just...really appriciate the ambiguity of that song.
Song that describes your life?
"Imaginary" by Evanescence. I am always in my field of paper flowers instead of reality. (Reality is nice, but I wouldn't want to live there. ;p)
Do you know the names of all the band members that you listen to?
Not always, really.
Favourite movie sound track?
Right now, "Rent."
What do your parents listen to?
Dad = Classic rock, modern alternative. (We actually listen to a lot of the same stuff!)
Mom = Barbra Streisand. (I know, I know. My mom has no taste in music.)
What song is stuck in your head right now?
"Buddy Holly" by Weezer, for no apparant reason! (Great music video, though.)
Do you sing in the shower?
No. I sing in my room, though.
If so, what? If not, why not?
My voice = total crap.
What is in your walkman/Discman right now?
"In Your Honor" by the Foo Fighters.
What are you listening to now?
"Points of Authority" Linkin Park.
