This story is fun. I love how the premise is totally cracked out, but the actual story telling is realistic. Or at least, I can imagine the guys actually acting that way in those circumstances.
It's amazing how hard it is to write crack when you're used to double- and triple-checking to make sure all major facts are firmly grounded in reality... So I'm really glad that it's coming off well. ^_^ Thank you!!
Oh yay! I was hoping you would update soon and now here this is! I love that Ryan's mind goes about a million miles an hour when he's nervous, and his dynamic with Kyle is pretty much my favorite thing. Their banter is fantastic.
"I live with you," Kyle said in his ear. He asked, "Are you high?" just as Mike shrugged and said, "Not really."
"Not really?" Ryan shook his head. What was Mike gonna do, hitch across America in a pair of swim briefs until he found a new life? That might not be the best idea in the world. In fact, it wasn't even a good idea. Not even slightly good.
"Seriously Ry, if you snuck out somewhere and baked I am gonna be pissed that you left me in practice, sober." Haha poor Kyle.
I did miss Kyle, after writing his few parts in TMH. ^^ I couldn't not include him! And there will be more of him to come... and I don't think he's gonna be happy about Ryan taking in strays. *laughs*
The mojo survived!! Yay :) I may or may not have made an actual audible sound when I saw this on my flist. *glances around*
Blinking at the question, Ryan wrinkled his nose up even further. "Am I?" His face smoothed out into a broad grin. "I was uh, kinda picturing you locked in a closet eating rats. You didn't have to do that, did you?"
Ryan's runaway imagination comes to the most hilarious possible conclusions. I love him.
"K-dog," he said, looking at the screen. "Is that who sings this song? I like it."
Mike is so intriguing, and his sweet warmth totally comes through in a very palpable way. His cluelessness is going to be very entertaining, though, I can already tell. HA!
Speaking of entertaining... Kyle and Ryan - GREAT friendship chemistry already!! :D :D
I feel like this chapter was a LOT of exposition, nothing happened except getting a bunch of facts established/out of the way... and that was hard to write, but I'm so relieved to hear that it wasn't hard to read. ^___^v Hopefully more won't take A MONTH this time, lol. *still kicking mojo in the pants*
I really like where this is going so far, especially with character development. The parallels between this Mike and real Mike are really interesting, and I like how you're using them. Also, like a lot of other people said, Ryan and Kyle are pretty spot-on and awesome. Can't wait to see how that goes!
My favorite part in this has gotta be the jellyfish conversation, and Mike's all-knowing knowledge of 'sea-jellies.' He sounds almost pretentious in it; I love it, haha.
It's strange not keeping to actual real facts, at least not in their proper time-line... but isn't that what crack is for? LOL ^_^ So I'm just trying to have fun and not sweat the details and I'm happy to know that the boys come through true despite that, ha.
And you know, it was pretty fun doing a little research for jellyfish... wiki actually says that people (scientists, I suppose) are trying to get their name changed since they really aren't fish--that's probably a lost cause, lol. But it was fun having Mike be political-fish-correct anyway. ^_^
*the zoology nerd comes out* Nope! Neither are starfish! Jellyfish are in the Phylum Cnidaria (Class Scyphoza, if you want to know) and Starfish are in Phylum Echinodermata and Class Asteroidea.
Sorry. I sorta just dorked out. I'm a biology major (specially cancer research, and more specific than that, testicular cancer research) and am taking zoology this semester as one of my biology requirements. Sorry about that.... XD
