Is this really what the corporate world is like? Being smarter than your boss. Everyone making decisions based on covering their asses, and not doing good work? I really didn't want to believe it, but I was spoiled by the startups

That was my world when I worked in DC. I did about 30 minutes of actual work in an eight hour day, and when I finished a project they kept telling me how unbelievably fast I worked. Sad thing is, you start to slack off just so they don't keep expecting that of you for other projects. Even though I shared an office with Reggie and he could see everything I was doing on the computer, I could still surf the net because he took naps in his chair every afternoon. Welcome to corporate middle management.
