Well, there goes my good mood for the day.

NYTimes, the bastion of quality reporting, reported on the gang-rape of an 11 year-old girl in Texas  that's led to charges against 18 high-school boys so far - all well and good so far, right?  Shit like this NEEDS publicity to raise awareness.

Only problem is, they ( Read more... )

It's her fault, or her mom's fault, that these poor boys did something they'll feel bad about later! ...maybe.

Here's everything they need to know about how she 'asked' for it:

1 She's 11
2 She said no.

It doesn't matter if she was walking down the street naked.

YES

I mean, if you want to be specific about it, all that matters here is "she said no." the fact that she's 11 just makes this even more horrifying.

I agree. I just add the "11" part to further point out how utterly wrong this is. As someone who's put away more than a couple of these people I'm always surprised at how many people stumble over that part.

I would say "since when is it a surprise that they have assholes living in TX?" but then I think about other incidents over the last 20 years where rape victims were vilified by members of the community who really should understand the difference between right and wrong. One example occurred in Cedar Ridge, NJ, where members of some high school sports team used a baton to take turns raping a girl who was borderline retarded. I don't know if any of these sports heroes has served any time in jail, but I hope they did. But, as in this case, the victim was characterized as being sexually aggressive--more a predator than the boys who committed the crime.

The child said NO. Besides, even in TX, she had not reached the age of consent.

I hope that these rapists wind up going to jail & if they get butt-raped there, one could truly say that they brought it on themselves.

Gee--was that politically incorrect?
