All seemed rather quiet last night... and yet...

We woke up to discover that some pretty impressive street art made its way onto West Burnside. Of course, since my other is a stenciling nerd, we'd like to solve this awesome mystery, as well as salute whoever had the guts to do this.

Footprints.

They're irregular and kind of crooked, looking almost like they were done one at a time. They also weave from one side of the traffic lane to another. You can also see the overspray, which means it's stenciled f'reals. This must have been quite the effort.

I'm quite sure the city, county, state, etc. would never go for this - it "distracts drivers from legal markings" on the road. And it looks too crooked to be for any event or purpose.

There are cones and "STREET CLOSED" signs stacked at every block. Maybe the perpetrators looked like legit street crews. (Apparently, throwing out a safety vest and a couple cones is a good way to stencil without being hassled.)

There's a folding chair over here. Odd. Maybe this is A CLUE.

They continue from 20th to at least Powell's, although perhaps beyond the park blocks. We didn't explore the full length. WHO KNOWS HOW FAR THEY GO.

There are random globs of wet paint on the sidewalk, grass, and other places along Burnside as well. Not sure how this fits in.

We couldn't make heads or tails out of it. Can you? How do you suppose this was done? What do they mean? Who is the guerilla painter among us?
