So I've been watching and participating in a few discussions on the Vtech shootings and I have to say I'm disgusted. First off the situation is appauling but on top of that the knee-jerk reactions range from ignorant to embarassing. As a professional security guard and PSO, your point is one I have been stressing to family members and friends after the incident. In reality most United States universities do not have very extensive security measures in place. I'm sure alot of that has to do with the idea of "free learning" and having a kind of community for young adults.
Shortly after the shooting, there was a article in the Daily Tribune (a Chicago paper) talked about how alot of colleges are beinging to take up armed security forces. I have to think that this is just another step in the right direction.
