For the last few weeks my computer was dead. The system couldn't find the drive which led me to believe that it was a hard drive failure. My ibook is a G3 and considered a bit old now a days. My apple care warranty was up and there was no chance of my replacing the computer or sending it in to be repaired. I was fucked ( Read more... )

dude...I'm thinking about building a entire computer by myself self but I'm scared haha. I really want to cause I think it actually saves money in the long run, but I also don't wanna end up with a million pieces of computer hardware that a paid a bunch for that doesn't run properly with the software I end up buying for it...it all just seems like such a huge hassle. was it? or no? (btw I have never used a mac in my life and don't feel like learning how if you're gonna talk about imacs in any responce you make. haha.)

Nah man, I think you can do it. Putting together a tower intended for an windows operating system is much easier. I'm sure you can find instructions online.

Building a computer is pretty simple, but Dell has a computer starting at $549 that includes a 17" flat panel monitor. There's no way you're going to be able to build a computer for cheaper than that.
