Haha you were very bored last night. This one makes more sense to me though. Schrodinger's cat is like an in joke for the wannabe intellectually elite (I'm pretty sure I've used this in the past to make myself look smart). It's complex enough to make you look intelligent, but not so complex that it's unintelligible. They used it in the Big Bang Theory one episode too. Cephalopods are a little out of the blue I think.
