That sounds like a very fitting send off for him; from what you've told me about him. Dying surounded by those who love you definitely sounds like the way to go. I've been to some strange funerals but too many in my opinion. One was for a toddler, daughter of a friend of mine and they requested no mourning clothes or black. Only bright colours and they released balloons. Another an older man friend of the family had a woven coffin and had a tree planted instead of a head stone on a hill. Then the others were cremations but they were irish so the wakes were memorable to say the least. I think thats what I'd want - no sadness just a big party.
