Well, it's official - Pirates of the Caribbean is too intense for our little one. We got as far as Elizabeth's scene on the pirate ship (with Barbossa and his apple) and the moonlight transformation of the Black Pearl's cursed crew, and she jumped and hid her face against Harry's shirt, saying, tell me when they're gone. So I shut off the DVD and ( Read more... )

Nah, it is not easier when you have them from infancy (or pregnancy) on...it is a learning curve with each and every individual child. What works for one, won't work for another and you pretty much go by the seat of your pants and hope you are doing right by your kids.

Okay, then. I'll repeat that to myself, and try to feel less inadequate when we get things wrong... I don't want to make any mistakes with the girls, you know? Yet it's inevitable we'll make them. And I'll feel horrible when we do. Like now, when I'm wondering if Lisha will have nightmares because of the movie. Sigh.

As long as they know they are loved, have someone reliable to be there for them and feel cherished (like they should be)....you are doing right by them. Remember two things, anyone can become a parent but it takes someone special to be a Mom or a Dad (just because you can bring life to the world doesn't make you the best parent) and two, you can lead a child to water but can't make them drink ~ (you raise them the best you can and hope that what you have taught them sticks with them when they have to make hard choices.)

just hug & kiss them everyday, tell them you love them and no matter what you will always be there for them. I tell my kids when they have done something wrong, I did not like what you did but I will love you forever. Then too, when I make a mistake, I always let them know I was wrong ~ and that it is ok to make mistakes....but I still worry I'm doing something wrong too!!! All parents have that fear though, it is what makes us (you too) a good parent.
