Hi Dana. Awwwwwwhhh! This list is incredible. All these songs bring back memories. That's so cool you compiled a list like this. (I'm going to have to do my own now . . . ) Anyway, "Black" by Pearl Jam. I bawl my head off every time I hear it, mainly because it's a beautiful song but also because it reminds me of a guy I was completely in love with at the time and it was our favorite song to have sex to. But eventually he ended up breaking my heart in a million pieces and leaving me in a crumpled heap on the floor.
Other songs on your list I love: Summer Nights (you can never get too much Olivia Newton John!) For some reason it reminds me of when my father taught me how to waterski. Cherry Bomb. The Runaways rock!
(I can email you the chords to Chariots rise when you do pick up that guitar!) :-)
Sex, broken heap, million pieces? I think you need to write a thinly-veiled fiction piece about this. You are a gifted storyteller. And anyone who even remembers The Runaways... wow!
Thanks for sharing that music memory. Consider yourself ducted to me.
Ahhh! torture me! Thanks so much for the mp3. It is beautiful. Beautiful. Reminds me of the one and only time I saw PJ in concert. It was 1992 and they played First Avenue in Minneapolis. Eddie did the crowd surfing thing and I was lucky enough to touch his sweaty masculine ankle as he floated by. It was heaven . . .
"1" ... what songs are on your list that are the same - and different - from mine? What are you playing right this very minute?
For me... Saturday night at the computer, I listened to Tony Bennett's "Time After Time", over and over again, ironically. The last two songs played just now were "Lonely Town, Lonely Street" [Bill Withers] and a nifty live version of "Folsom Prison Blues" [Johnny Cash]
"I hear the train a-coming... I'm stuck in Folsom Prison... I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die" [Freakishly, as soon as he sings/speaks 'die', the prisoners at this live concert hoot and holler.]

MP3: Pearl Jam Live at Benaroya Hall in Seattle [Oct.22 2003]. When the audience takes over the singing and Eddie Vedder stops singing... *dies from emotional overload*

I remember Folsom Prison Blues quite well. Johnny Cash was one of my dad's favorites. I always liked Ring of Fire.
I like Tony Bennett quite a bit.
