My mom watches The Good Wife so I downloaded it for her to watch while she's here. I'm not going into the plot, but three people are running for State Attorney. They're trying to dig up dirt on each other. The dirt one digs up on another is that he doesn't have a Swedish nanny afterall because the nanny is black. Seriously? I've been to Sweden

There is a weird thing that white people are some sort of default. My daughter has had two roommates in the last year, both were born in this country, but their parents had moved here from China when they were young. One roommate was born in Wisconsin, the other was born in New Jersey. They are both as "American" as she is, but they're called "Chinese," by people who don't know them.
Probably stuff that you had to put up with too, which may be how you notice the ridiculousness of it when it's on TV.
