The passive voice is definitely a pain in the ass. Sorry you have to soley use it. That makes for an incredibly dry write...

It's not even the dryness. It's the fact that I can hear my old english teachers in my head, screaming at me. Yargh.

You know, this style is starting to go out of vogue. I've seen more and more papers lately - not in the extremely stodgy journals like PRL or Science, but in ones like JHEP which still have some tie to the modern world - in which people actually write their Letters like actual letters. It feels kinda 19th-century, and kinda neat...
