I have a possible chance at a applications support job at the santa clara branch of my company

Telephone tech support is hard work, but it has been a good stepping stone for many.

I learned a lot in my time on the phones-- and think it ought to be a requirement for all programmers --but I can't say it did much for my nerves or my love of fellow man. Which is to say: I'm glad I did it, but I'm glad to not be doing it any more.

If my nerves or love of fellow man were in better shape in the first place, the whole idea might be more appealing.
