I do find it a bit amusing (and deeply sad) that people are trying so hard to make something artificial that acts like a living human. Is it really so bad having to actually talk to an actual human? I said it at game, and I'll say it again now, but nothing is ever going to be better than actually being in a room with real friends just interacting.
(The project itself does look cool, but they'd still be restricted to specific programmed scenarios and recorded dialogue for the character. I don't know if we'll ever be able to make a truly thinking and reasoning artificial life form.)
This being Peter Molyneux, the technology will be vasty broken outside of carefully controlled demonstration videos, and woefully underused and unhelpful in any games it appears in.
