Oooo the holgas! My partner owes me a Holga in payment for an organization project I did for him 3 years ago, and I like to remind him at opportune moments. Are you getting one, do you think?
Also hooray for long underwear! I really wish it got cold enough in Austin to wear them. =(
The Holga is one of those things that I see, go "Oooh! I want!" for awhile, then I somehow forget about it, until the next time I see one. Yesterday in a climbing magazine, I saw an article/photo essay about going on a climbing trip in New Zealand. The photographer used only a Holga while he was there, and there were some pretty sweet shots. So then I went home and was looking at the website that sells them, silently lusting. I think it's a little ridiculous that a shitty plastic camera will run me $70 USD, though. It comes with a book about Holgas and tape for the light leaks and all that jazz... All I really want is the camera it's self, though.
And surely, in a few months, you'll have a day or so of cold weather! Why, when I was in Dallas a few years ago for new years, it was colder there then in Halifax, where I was located at the time. Is the weather in Austin much different from Dallas?
Just as I wrote the above post, it occured to me that a much better place to look for a Holga might be on Ebay, where I am now. I like the prices here ever so much better. :)
Yes, eBay is totally the way to go with photography equipment, I've discovered. At least up to a certain price, anyways.
We do get some coldish weather in Austin, but I grew up in Upstate New York where it basically snows constantly for what seems like 9 months out of the year. Anything in comparison to that is TOASTY.
Yeah, the weather in Austin is usually quite warmer than Dallas. It actually snows in Dallas, for instance, and we don't get snow.
I've only just gotten into them a few weeks ago, and have been listening to them quite a bit. Lovely stuff, and I particularly enjoy Neko Case's voice.
I shall see what I can do! My friend who I work with might be letting me borrow his new DSLR sometime in the near future, so maybe that picture might exist sooner, rather then later.
