As a future doctor, I think it is more kind to give people the worst-case scenario possibilities in situations like that.

I don't necessarily agree with their saying "She Has This Disease", but they probably should have said something more along the lines of "She is exhibiting a lot of the symptoms of having this disease. If she does have it, she may not live more than a few days. However, we're going to keep her under close observation and run some tests and hope for the best."

Does that make sense?

I do agree with you, and what you say does make sense.

I'd have had no problem if what you said had been what my Uncle was told, but they seemed to be pretty sure she had some particular lung thing (I unfortunately do not remember the name). My Mum also learned after they decided that my cousin didn't have it, that this particular deformity can't really be diagnosed until an autopsy is performed.

So, to sum up, my second hand facts probably paint a somewhat inaccurate picture of the situation, but it still sounds like you have a much better idea of how things should've been handled, and you're not even a doctor yet.

Ultimately, I don't really care too much, as long as the story has a happy ending.
