So we tried to get to the rally today, but like many other people (I would guess a thousand at least, just at West Falls Church) we were unable to cram our way onto a metro train. I would be sad about this if I wasn't so happy that that many people showed up ( Read more... )

Re: Colbert's entrance. Did you notice in the credits who the executive producer was? When the ep asks for 3 goofy things, you give it to him.

Also, it was hilarious at the time.

I thought the Giant Colbert puppet vs. John Olliver as Peter Pan thing was way more surreal than anything I expected. I'm still a little unsure as to its purpose in the rally.

Also: Sorry you couldn't be there. Metro was a nightmare.

Yeah, when my mom told me she was going down with my dad, I was being all wise-districtian, saying not to drive because it will be too crazy. They drove, and they had to walk 40 blocks, but they got there and we didn't.:)

I think it was really Jamie that was the (adorable) limiting factor, regardless of what method we'd chosen. We could've driven or walked, or even squeezed onto the train one at a time. But there are just some breeds of devoted fan-craziness you don't participate in when there's a little child involved.

So, IMO, what we ended up doing was well within the spirit of the rally. :)

We anticipated well in advance what a nightmare it
would be & decided to go to the rally by way of our TV set.
We had a much nicer view than just about anyone else....
