The results of the 2005 Bulwer-Lytton Fiction contest has been announced.

For those who are not familiar with this, it is contest to write the worst opening line for a novel. It is named after a Victorian novelist, Edward George Earl Bulwer-Lytton, who used the immortal line shown in the subject to open one of his novels.

The states of Michigan and Utah have enacted taxes on e-mail, though of course they do not refer to them as such. See Michigan, Utah Impose Dreaded E-Mail Tax for more info.

Yet more proof that nobody's life, liberty or property is safe when the legislature is in session.

I saw this on the Tonight Show last night and just had to share it.

Hey, at least it didn't sell, unlike the piece of toast that supposedly has Runaway Bride Jennifer Wilbank's face on it ($15,400).

Mood: Appalled, but not surprised.

I ran across an interesting OP/ED piece in the Mpls. Star Tribune (Strib) today (http://www.startribune.com/stories/1519/5160241.html). And people in this country wonder why the US is losing ground in the global economy.
