Not that I want to burst anyone's bubble, but:

Presidential Pardon

No one will go down for any of this. At least not for the long term.

I know, goddammit. If they'd just managed to indict before the election (thanks a lot, Judith "utter tool" Miller et al), he'd've had to pardon all these fucks and lost the election over it.

Now we're just stuck praying the Republicans have enough integrity to turn on one of their own who's an utter unrepentant crook. (, he laughed bitterly)

Well it's clear that Scooter is a fall guy here. But as long as they keep Cheney out of the mix (although he's as guilty as the day is long) they'll come out smelling like roses.

I wonder if the Prez would have taken a fall in '04 if they had gotten through this quicker. He wouldn't be forced to pardon Libby right away, and I would be surprised if he pardoned him (if convicted of any charges) immediately anyway.

To be honest, I'm enjoying this situation on a purely political level. Fortunately no one was hurt over this event. And I mean physically hurt, not like professions and work wasn't damaged by the outing of Plame. I just like this plot line and I hope to see more of it in the coming season.

I also hope that the grand jury stuff continues to keep Rove distracted. I like it when the only brain functioning in the White House is Bush's. It makes it seem more real to me.
