last night i browsed through all the old school assignments i have in my room... and goodness, i was friggin amazing when i was a little kid. seriously, i was really artistic, really good at poetry.... WHAT HAPPENED? i cant draw or write for crap anymore.

when i was still in elementary school i wrote this spoof of "twas the night before christmas":

twas the night before christmas, a dark christmas eve
not a live thing was stirring, not even the leaves.
then out of the darkness there came a small thud
and then came the squelching of footsteps in mud.
it was a robot, only one to be seen
still no live thing was stirring, just a machine.
and then more and more robots dropped out of thin air
and got up from the mud just as if they din't care.
they went to their leader, who was standing in the street
then away they all went, the whole robot fleet.
their first stop was Fred Meyer where they searched all the toy racks
and took all the toys away in their sacks.
they raided the toyshops along allies and roads
always adding more and more to their loads.
all of a sudden, they all stopped and turned 'round
and walked quickly back through the cities and towns.
they then reached the neighborhoods where many kids live
and away all their toys and their sacks they did give.
all of the toys went under the trees
and they worked until morning, as busy as bees.
so now you all know that Santa's not true
it's really the robots that bring presents to you!

clever and cute, no?

haha also, i found an essay i wrote on nebraska in third grade. i apparently had a whole paragraph dedicated to... death? here's what i wrote:
"many people died because of blizzards and dust storms in the 1880s and 1890s. world war II killed 20,000 people. farmers were using too much water for crops. sometimes rivers disappeared. a lot of people died because of that"
yeah, that made me laugh.

also, i found a first grade picture of me frowning, with a caption saying:
"this is a picksher of me on the ferst bay of school. Miss Davis toock it. It whas fun."
i like how i got b confused with d, yet i spelled school correctly. i also like how grumpy i looked in the picture, yet i wrote that it was fun. you kinda have to see it to get whole effect.

otherwise... not much else is happening around here. that's good.
