I've checked the FAQs, but don't see a direct answer: I see something on one of your journal entries, and I go to that link, do whatever, and want to copy/paste the results here.  I've tried it in rich text and HTML, but the pasted code comes up as just that on preview-no finished image.

I'm not entirely sure what you want to do.

If you want a picture to show up in your lj entry, do this:

[img src="http://www.paulspicture.com" width=640 height=480]

but, replace the [] with <>

Sorry for being unclear. Picture linking from Photobucket I have down. This is when I see that friend x has completed some quiz or such on another site, which I complete, and I'm offered code to paste into LJ. I dutifully copy and paste, but when previewing, all I see is code-not the finished image. More sensical, now?

Well, you definitely want HTML mode and not Rich Text, because the latter will print out the <>s literally. Also make sure "Disable auto-formatting" is not checked, and there is no tags or some such.
