You make such great points about all the different kinds of boundary breaking going on this season. I hadn't noticed any of that, though to be honest I usually imagine the writers sitting around having conversations like "What can we do to gross out our audience this season?" "I know! Let's tie Jason to a bed and have him be raped by a bunch of inbred hillbilly women!". I often feel like this show is far too in love with whatever grotesqueries it can muster up, at the expense of things like plots and themes and consistency. BUT, maybe I'm not giving them enough credit, because now that you've pointed it out, I can see that there are some thematic patterns at work here.

I don't think that's wrong, either. I think a lot will depend on where they're going with the Jason storyline, which they seem to be treating as disturbing so far, but very well may blow off. It helps that I have a hard time taking Hotshot too seriously since it reads more as a broad metaphor to me, like so much in this show.
OMG I would never have recognized her!
Now I'm actually hoping to see more Debbie, because I love that actress.
